No Reino Dos Afetos 2: The Bold And Authentic Masterwork Of Bruno Berle

Bruno Berle, the Brazilian songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and poet, is a game-changer in the music scene, to say the least. Redefining the standards of modern music, Bruno is on a whole other level when it comes to creating timeless musical works that boldly blur the lines between different genres and perspectives.

Coming off of his debut album back in 2022, Bruno’s making a stronger impression now more than ever with the album No Reino Dos Afetos 2 which translates to “In The Realm of Affections”.

Daring to move forward from traditional boundaries in Brazilian music, Bruno and his longtime musical partner Batata Boy, are carving a path all on their own towards making an impact all over the world.

This brave feat by Bruno is evident in all of the tracks in No Reino Dos Afetos 2. Exuding sentimentality and powerfully sensual intimacy with each track, the album is a treat for the senses from start to finish.

The songs in the album stand out because of Bruno’s excellent lyricism. Following Bruno’s relocation to São Paulo, No Reino Dos Afetos 2 tells about his reflections on his life, both past and present.

And to top things off, the musicality of the album is sublime in itself. Daring to blend MPB with other genres such as lo-fi and dubstep (among other crossovers), the songs in the album offer an exciting and spontaneous feel that is nothing short of unforgettable.

The songs in the album perfectly capture that vibe of old and new clashing into one harmonic whole. “Dizer Adeus”, namely, gives off the unique personality of Bruno in a beautiful and unorthodox style that leaves a strong impression.

In the highlight track “Love Comes Back,” Berle provides a unique take on Arthur Russell’s work. Russell, a late musician from Iowa, didn’t gain substantial recognition until after his passing in 1992. “His way of making music is similar to mine,” Berle explains. “He sings in a more fragile way, has more of an experimental way of recording, letting ‘chance’ appear in the final work.”

However, in its entirety, No Reino Dos Afetos 2 is an innovative transformation of long-standing traditions in Brazilian music.
