Ambient artist Chuck Soo-Hoo aka Ki Oni, has us salivating over his upcoming A Leisurely Swim album with the lead track, ‘Reincarnation at the End of the World’.
With a deeper focus on listening than 2021’s Stay Indoors and Swim, A Leisurely Swim to Everlasting Life explores the relationship between sound and its environment. On this album, Soo-Hoo takes on the subject of death for the first time.
“With everything going on in the world –– and if reincarnation is real, where would a spirit go if the world ended suddenly?” muses Soo-Hoo. “What would that sound like? Would it continue to float on this deteriorated earth until new life begins or would it float forever into the abyss?”
Over the song’s 22-minute journey, Ki Oni lays down a beautiful and often fragile soundscape that grows with more subtle layers of sounds entering the foray. As it progresses, you’re enveloped in a lush sonic experience of soft synths and organic sounds that serenades you with its blissful sonic textures. The track then fades away, leaving listeners with a lingering feeling of serenity and comfort.

‘A Leisurely Swim To Everlasting Life’ will see daylight on August 25th. Pre-order the limited edition cassette or digital download via the link below.
