Raffy Bushman – For Horace (TS Premiere)

Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz harmonies and improvisation come together in this homage to the late, great pianist Horace Silver.

Renowned multi-instrumentalist, composer & arranger Raffy Bushman returns to the piano on his latest single, ‘For Horace’, introducing his forthcoming album, ‘Silver Lines’.

Featuring some fine players like Jonny Woodham (Alfa Mist, JSPHYNX), Luke Wynter (Golden Mean, Nubiyan Twist) and Finn Booth (Nubiyan Twist). The track’s moody ostinato basslines, and emotive horn melodies, lend it a contemporary edge. At the same time, the afro-cuban-inspired percussion and Bushman’s ruminative piano playing convey a sense of nostalgia.

‘For Horace’ is an outstanding example of how jazz can be creative, technically complex and melodic. The song pays dazzling tribute to Silver, a jazz legend whose influence continues today. ‘For Horace’ is a testament to Bushman’s skills as a composer and pianist. It’s sure to be a standout track on his upcoming album.

An essential listen.

“This is a piece dedicated to Horace Silver, one of the great bandleaders of the 50’s and 60’s.
His classic but unique approach to harmony and groove has a timeless quality which I aspire to.”
