Twistedsoul Monday Mix: Pharoah Sanders

Twistedsoul Monday Mix: Pharoah Sanders

It’s Monday Mix time, and we’re paying tribute to the late tenor saxophonist Pharoah Sanders! He was a leading figure in what is often called spiritual jazz, which drew influences from Asian and African traditions. Moving from California to New York in the early 1960s, he collaborated with Sun Ra and joined John Coltrane’s band. This mix only scratches the surface of Sanders’ phenomenal body of work. Let’s pay homage to one of the greatest tenor saxophonists of all time by pressing play.
