Guest Playlist: 3ZVO

The London-based creative house IXCHEL Collective recently launched a new project called Sol Remedios to help emerging musicians spread their music worldwide. First up is Berlin group 3ZVO.

Andrej Ugoljew’s 3ZVO music is a kaleidoscopic mix of laid-back nu-jazz sweetness, mixed with afro-funk influences, and hints of hip-hop.

3ZVO is Andrej Ugoljew (trombone & keys), Bastian Duncker (baritone sax), Johanna Burnheart (violin & synth), Keisuke Matsuno (guitar), Max Klaas (percusssion), Thomas Steigler (bass) and Hanno Stick (drums).

Listen to ‘Easy Does It’ the lead cut taken from their upcoming album ‘One’, which is due for release on 17th June.

Berlin Bike messenger Collective “Fahrwerk” provides the band with their 3ZVO (DreiZvo) moniker, which originates from Andrej’s courier number. This is Andrej’s other passion. His side-gig also reflects the highly talented and grooving approach of this highly innovative and grooving band of friends. Their sound is a combination of organic and scorching sounds, using old school instrumental skills.

To mark the release of their debut track they have put a playlist of tunes together for us, revealing the band’s diverse taste. From Herbie Hancock to Air to Oumou SangarĂ©, by way of Steve Turre, this is one for the eclectically minded music lover.
