Sneaky Jesus- Battledance (Awkward Corners Remix) (TS Premiere)

Meet sneaky jesus, a Polish jazz quartet who have been making waves lately.

A few weeks ago, we stumbled upon sneaky jesus via our good friends at MIMS and were blown away by the raw energy and quality of the quartet.

The band is made up of Matylda Gerber on tenor & baritone sax, Maciej Forreiter on guitar, Beniamin Łasiewicki on bass and Filip Baczyński on drums.

Their debut album will land on 28th May via Shapes Of Rhythm, and the four-track record titled ‘Joseph Riddle’ continues the rich legacy of Polish jazz, combining it with breakbeat oriented styles of UK and US jazz with ideas derived from punk and funk.

Since we loved the first two tracks (‘Battledance’ and ‘Bugs’) we heard from the album, we didn’t hesitate when we got the opportunity to premiere this brilliant remix of ‘Battledance’ by Chris Menist aka Awkward Corners.

Taking the percussion-heavy, psych jam to new places. Menist uses a number of instruments from around the world, throwing in his trademark Illimbas, a Berimbau as well as more familiar booming 808s.

The original track has already made quite the impact, and this reworking, is equally sublime!
