Rising Canadian bassist and producer vbnd delivers a delectable jazzy and soulful selection for our latest guest playlist.
Returning two years after the release of his debut project ‘Daughter of The Sun’, Saskatoon-based vbnd recently shared ‘Slowly Starting to Take Form’ as the first glimpse to his forthcoming album ‘Scum Funk’ – to be released via London based label DeepMatter. Joining forces with The Soulmate Collective, the song is a gritty, and hypnotic affair graced by Katie Tupper’s tender vocals. Check out the track above!
For his playlist, vbnd has curated an ear warming selection that starts with D’Angelo’s elegant harmonies and ends with the uplifting jazz-funk of PYJÆN. In between, you’ll hear everything from Jordan Rakei, Raveena, Emily King and Raffy Bushman, to name a few.
“This playlist is a collection of songs that I’ve held very close for a very long time, most of them anyways. I’m always looking for the next project that’ll catch my ear and inspire me, and these are a good peek into my musical influences and taste in general. it all starts with the legendary voodoo and progresses through to the label mates PYJÆN.” – vbnd
Enjoy the new track and playlist below, and look out for ‘Scum Funk’, which is out later next month.
