French composer and multi-instrumentalist Colleen, aka Cécile Schott, has a new album on the way via Thrill Jockey. 

Titled, The Tunnel And The Clearing, Schott, created the project throughout several transformative changes. Beginning work on the album in 2018 Schott was soon diagnosed with chronic autoimmune disease, relocating from San Sebastian to Barcelona, pandemic related lockdowns further halted recordings. The breakdown of her longtime partnership compounded all this.

 “I found direct correspondences between my internal discourse, its obsessive, frantic attempts at making sense of what I could not understand, and the music I was making, with motifs functioning as questions and answers, doubts and assertions,” she says. 

The Tunnel And The Clearing follows her 2019 EP, A Flame Variations (Live In The Moog Soundlab).
