Encapsulating the ethos of Wicked Wax to a tee is, Amsterdam-based five-piece Floatmonki whose music most certainly pushes the boundaries.
Founded by vocalist and songwriter Donna van Dijck, the band intertwine Donna’s intimate tales with a fresh fusion of electronic textures, soothing synths, jazz harmonies and cathartic releases with the raw edge of progressive rock music.
Floatmonki are completed by Jonathan Szegedi (drums), Felix Back (keys, synths), Freek Mulder (bass, synth bass) and Maarten Cima (guitar).
The band are getting ready to release their debut album ’Body No.1’ LP early next year. We are delighted to premiere the lead track “Fall into Place”, a smooth and at the same time, an intense soundscape provides the backdrop for the soaring vocals that lend the song an uplifting sense of positivity. The song ends with nothing more than gentle piano chords to bring it to a tranquil conclusion.
Body Vol.1 will be available digitally and on limited edition vinyl on February 9th. It can be pre-ordered via Wicked Wax’s Bandcamp page.
For those that love edgy jazz with soulful vibes, this release is for you!
Press notes:
Body No. 1 also draws parallels between nature and the artificial, as the electronic sounds soothing synths and pulsating bass lines are juxtaposed with emotions all humans experience in one point or another during their lifetime. The albums flows as flawless as water through a babbling brook, enriching the tangible emotions and the narrative of the story.
