Editions Mego has released Vanish, the new two-track album from Julia Reidy.
Across its 33 minutes, Reidy’s guitar and vocal lines seem mapped to the natural ebb and flow of breath and thought, they lull you as they push through vast and secret spaces.
This is the first time I have heard of Reidy, and I do love these kinds of discoveries that stop you dead in your tracks. If like me you were not yet aware of her then I’m doubly excited to spread the word.
Vanish is her debut release on Editions Mego, and it completes a trio of records that started with last year’s Brace, Brace and In Real Life, out via Slip. She’s also released on A Guide To Saints, Room40′s magnetic tape label.
Once I’m done with Vanish, I’ll be heading back to her 2014 debut and exploring from there.
