Berlin-based drummer/percussionist/producer/DJ Niklas Wandt is releasing his debut solo EP, titled Erdtöne, via Kryptox next month.
The 4-track project, for the most part, is built around improvised drum jams recorded in Wandt’s rehearsal space in Berlin with bassist Timo Hein dropping by for the ride.
Erdtöne follows his brilliant collaborative track with Wolf Müller from earlier this year and his contribution to the 2019 compilation album Kraut Jazz Futurism, which was also released via Kryptox.
Before it drops, we’re blessed with Luftkraft (Airforce Wandt) Redux. Bursting with percussive joy, cosmic synths and a neck-snapping bassline it’s a 4-minute neo- jazz-funk track with a lot of drive, but no jazz solos.
