New Sounds: Golden Mean – Through Walls

Debut track from London jazz quartet Golden Mean.

Jazz re:freshed is the gift who keeps on giving, and the London label has dropped a fresh treat to start the year.

Golden Mean is the brand new quartet formed by Tom Driessler of Yussef Kamaal and Luke Wynter of Nubiyan Twist. The lineup is completed by Lyle Barton and Noya Rao’s Matt Davies.

The label explains that “the band take their name from the mysterious calculation that has consistently cropped up throughout the study of Music, Nature, History and Math; Also known as the Golden Ratio.”

With their debut EP titled Through Walls just around the corner (it’s out in a few days), the band have shared the title track.

Moving from snappy guitar hooks to some trippy beats, smooth key chords, and uptempo grooves, the title cut is so infectious it will worm its way into your head and be stuck in there for days.

If the rest of the EP is good as this track, we’re in for a treat!

Through Walls EP lands on 11/01 via Jazz re:freshed. Pre-order from Bandcamp.
