Jeen Bassa will release a beat tape-style album, Cassava Pone, on 22a at the end of the week.
The new project finds the youngest of the outrageously talented Deenmamode brothers (Mo Kolours & Reginald Omas Mamode IV delivering his signature head nodding and woozy productions. Like the best beat tapes from Dilla to Madlib, this one excites and surprises at every turn.
Heavily influenced by Bassa’s Mauritian roots, the LP traverses Aboriginal and pan African sounds, with dense layers of percussion and samples from his fatherland. Alongside Bassa, you’ll hear the likes of Mo Kolours, Al Dobson Jr, Reginald Omas Mamode IV and Shepherd Manyika.
The 18-track project follows up on his hugely successful ‘All My People’ and ‘Timewaves’ LP’s on 22a.
Cassava Pone will arrive on 2nd August via 22a. Head here to pre-order.
