Twistedsoul - Ami Dang

Baltimore based vocalist, sitarist, composer and producer Ami Dang is releasing a new album called Parted Plains out this August via Leaving Records.

The nine track instrumental album, fuses sitar and electronics and is inspired by South Asian and Middle Eastern folktales.

According to the label, Dang drew inspiration from “the four tragic romances of Punjab, Sohni Mahiwal, Sassi Punnun, Heer Ranjha, and Mirza Sahiba; Flora Annie Steel’s Tales of the Punjab: Folklore of India, and selected stories from One Thousand and One Nights.”

Parted Plains follows last years collabortive album with cellist Alexa Richardson as Raw Silk.

To give us a little taste of what’s to come, Dang has also released the serenely beautiful ‘Raiments’, which you can listen to below.
