Ash Walker has been doing great things for a long time, and we’ve had him in our sights ever since his album, ‘Augmented 7th’ dropped in 2015.
His new album Aquamarine is forthcoming, and ‘Under The Sun’ is the first taste from it. The song features the silky tones of frequent collaborator Laville who appears on three tracks on the LP.
The 14-track record which was recorded at home also features contributions from trumpet and flugelhorn auteur Yazz Ahmed, bassist Marc Cyril, and renowned producer Jonathan Shorten.
“My previous albums have felt to me more like ventures on land. This one feels more like a deep sea voyage into the subconscious. Living to dream with visions of grandeur. Manifesting a beautiful path to walk on. It was inspired by everything around me, from friends and family to art and design, engineering and architecture, movement and how we use our five senses. I love to try and push my own boundaries of what I perceive to be right and wrong, seeing mistakes as innovations, and obstacles as inspiration.” – Ash Walker
Aquamarine follows his 2016 album, Echo Chamber, and 2015’s Augmented 7th. Early last year Walker worked with Yazz Ahmed on Sweatshop Soundsystem a two-track EP full of abstract rhythms, hints of dub and jazz influences.
Its physical release has been pressed 180g teal virgin vinyl and includes artwork by Sophie Bass. The CD version comes housed in a 3-panel gatefold sleeve and printed on 600-micron board with remus spine.
