Video: Schemes – Tomorrow

Get familiar with Montreal-based collective Schemes.

The hugely talented group of former session musicians consists of Hugo Parent-Potier on the trumpet, Charles Miquelon on keys, Phil Legentil on drums, Tom Tartarin on the bass plus mikeclay and Nadia Baldé on vocals.

Their upcoming self-titled release was recorded in several studios’ in-between the member’s session work, with all the music you hear created live, with no studio treats and no gimmicks. Across the recording, the collective deftly navigate their way through free jazz, hip hop, soul and broken beats.

You can get a little taste of the EP by watching the Theo Brière directed clip for their debut track ‘Tomorrow’. The dazzling visual is composed entirely of gifs. The fast-moving fragments serve as perfect accompaniment for this enticing tune.

The 7-track project drops digitally and on limited cassette on April 26th. The B-side of the limited edition tape features an exclusive mix by alldayjam containing soulful finds from all over the globe.

The Schemes EP is set for release on 26/04. Pre-order from Bandcamp.
