Cuban/Iranian trio Ariwo will drop their second studio album Quasi in April. Filled with the band’s signature eclectic mix of styles the upcoming record sees the trio delve into new sonic territories.
The 7-track LP follows 2017’s self-titled album and features contributions from Binker Golding, Joe-Armon Jones, Yelfris Valdés and Tommy Lowry Garcia who add a whole new twist on the left-of-centre jazz the band have become revered for.
Today we’re sharing ‘El Alacrán’ which features the soaring trumpet of Cuban player Yelfris Valdés. Displaying the full palette of their complex polyrhythms, lend your ears and let the trio take you to experimental places.
Quasi’s artwork is a collection of photographs taken by Iranian Artist Afshin Chizari at Hormoz Island.
The album arrives on April 16th via Manana Records. Pre-order it here.
