Album: Ed Longo & The Applied Arts Ensemble – The Other Fantasy

Ed Longo & Applied Arts Ensemble - The Other Fantasy
‘The Other Fantasy’ sees Ed Longo and his studio project The Applied Arts Ensemble blending jazz-funk, fusion, boogie wrapped up in blissful balearic textures.

The five track EP is the result of numerous recording sessions that took place in different places around Europe with various musicians from mostly jazz leaning backgrounds.

The press release explains that the project was “conceptualized around the quest for Otherness in the schizophrenia of the digital age, and the resulting exotic dystopias which we are confronted with every day. “

Opening cut ‘Love on The Line’ features a funky flute combined with a tight groove and sensual vocals while ‘Arcadian Dreams’ is a soothing new age ambient/jazz affair that’s utterly elvating in its soundscape. ‘A Palm In The Closet is a smooth 80’s groover that will transport you back in time and closing out the record is ‘Trouble In Paradise’ a feathery jazz fusion effort of the highest order. Really strong album.

The Other Fantasy is out now via Early Sounds Recordings. Buy from Bandcamp.
