Warsaw and Berlin-based composer, musician Hania Rani is releasing her highly anticipated debut solo album called ‘Esja’ this April.
The ten song album was recorded at Rani’s apartment in Warsaw and at her friend Bergur Þórisson’s studio in Reykjavik.
In Esja she not only draws inspiration from composers such as Max Richter, Miles Davis, Nils Frahm, Portico Quartet, and Radiohead but also from places she has lived and visited like Berlin, and Iceland.
The album is a pivotal moment in her career as it marks her first, real, personal statement as an artist.
“No hiding behind the “collaborations” or “projects” anymore. For the very first time, finally – just me, as I am” says Rani.
Take a listen to the shimmering lead track Glass, named for its fragility, but also its many colours, like glass caught in the light.
Esja will be released on April 15th via Gondwana Records. Pre-order a copy here, and take a look at the artwork and tracklisting below.
