The new record called ‘Ironside’ follows the band’s 2017 two-album series ‘Trudi’s Songbook: Volume One’ and ‘Trudi’s Songbook: Volume Two.’
Pulling inspiration from jazz legends like John Coltrane, Yusef Lateef and the Headhunters, the record also explores the depths of hip-hop, afrobeat and UK underground music.
Speaking about the new LP Tenderlonius revealed: “This record is more disciplined and thought-out. The Shakedown was a free, unplanned jam, but this has detailed arrangements with lots of changes.”
“The tracks are shorter too – they’re more concise, as is the whole thing, which makes it more accessible. I like the idea that people can play the album quickly, then play it all over again.”
To give us a little taste of what’s to come, the band has also released ‘Eleven Grapes’, which you can listen to below.
Just as sublime as their previous offerings, this new one comes encased in a jazzy shell with catchy time signatures and a playful melody. This one’s pretty special – take a listen and groove!
