Every time Catherine Harris-White aka Sassy Black drops new music, our ears prick up with excitement. That’s precisely the case with her latest offering ‘Wakanda Funk Lounge’, a four-track EP of her self-styled “Hologram funk” sound.
This EP is the music Sassy Black would perform in the funk lounges of Wakanda because even a fictional country needs good music right?
Speaking to Shondaland about the releases she explained, “The EP is also about black freedom. When I think of “Black Panther,” it is talking about black freedom, so much that we have our own secret space. What would be freer than a Wakanda funk lounge.”
A ray of sunshine the EP is crammed with intricate details that hit the sweet spot, the project is a wonderful array of electronic R&B and soulful gems interspersed with subtle jazz touches.
