Eclectic ambient composer Bob Holroyd is set to release his new album ‘The Cage’ on the 9th March.
Having previously collaborated with artists such as: Coldcut, Four Tet, Francois K, Mogwai, The Album Leaf, Nitin Sawhney, T. Williams, Lemonde, Loop Guru, Steve Roach and more, and with over eight studio albums behind him, Holroyd music has received praise from the likes of BBC Radio 3/Late Junction, Gilles Peterson, DJ Mag, Mixmag, Resident Advisor, Hypnagogue and many more.
Speaking about the track Holroyd explains “‘The Cage’ is where I have subconsciously imprisoned myself emotionally for years” says Bob, “By keeping out ‘negative’ emotions I have felt safe, but ultimately made myself unapproachable to others, and myself. I had the idea that instead of trying to escape this Cage I should enlarge it to include all emotions, feelings experiences and people – if EVERYTHING is in the Cage then I am more free than if I were keeping all influences out.”
Watch the visual for the first single from the album, ‘Inner Mind Sigh’, a beautiful and cinematically textured track, which walks the fine line between experimental and ambient electronic with spatterings of jazz and modern classical influences.
