Nubya Garcia has impressed just about everyone since the release of her solo debut EP Nubya’s 5ive when it dropped early last year. That buzz is set to continue as the London-based saxophonist has shared ‘Once’, a track from the forthcoming We Out Here compilation, due for release on February 9th via Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings.
Opening with a burst of hard-hitting drums from Femi Koleoso before Joe Armon-Jones piano keys explode into life. Daniel Casimir’s throbbing bass lines bring the groove while Garcia’s virtuoso sax playing takes you through sounds that are both timeless, yet innovative.
