Guest Playlist: EABS/ Astigmatic Records

This week the members of EABS and their label Astigmatic Records put together a guest playlist.

Earlier this year the Polish septet released their debut full-length entitled “Repetitions (Letters To Krzysztof Komeda),” a stunning nine-track project dedicated to Polish Jazz legend Krzysztof Komeda.

One the best debut records of 2017 released on one of our favourite new labels (check out Bitimina and Jaubi); had tastemakers such as Music Is My Sanctuary, and Flea Market Funk heralding the project.

The album blends elements of soul, funk, hip-hop and electro and finds the band exploring some of Komeda’s lesser-known compositions featured in ballet etudes, movies, short films, documentaries, animations and compositions illustrating Polish poems recited in German.

For their exclusive Twistedsoul playlist, the band and the label have put together a very dope selection that includes tracks by Sun Ra, Weather Report, Gil Scott Heron, Speakers Corner Quartet, Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids and more.

This playlist is pretty special, so you know what to do.

Hjálmar – Lof – Jakub Kurek

Weather Report – A Remark You Made – Marcin Rak

Speakers Corner Quartet – Fuck The Hype – Spisek Jednego

Gil Scott Heron – The Klan – Marek Pędziwiatr

Eivind Aarset – Sign of Seven – Vojto Monteur

Colin Stetson – Lord I Just Can’t Keep From Crying – Paweł Stachowiak

Weather Report – River People – Olaf Węgier

Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids – Marcin Piechowiak
