Guest Playlist: Yazz Ahmed

Yazz Ahmed

A new guest playlist on the site and we are excited to welcome Yazz Ahmed.

The Bahraini-British trumpet and flugelhorn player recently released her second album La Saboteuse, an enchanting record of modern jazz vibes and Middle Eastern flavour that reflect both parts of her heritage. One the years best releases and if your ears have yet to meet this beautiful piece of music then head here.

For her exclusive Twistedsoul playlist, Ahmed has put together a collection of stunning tracks that have influenced the diverse sounds found on her recent album.

“I feel this list is very personal to my evolution as an artist. Over the years my tastes have changed and broadened, I’m discovering new music all the time, but I wanted to share this selection as much of this music influenced my album La Saboteuse. I’ve been living with some of the tracks for many years, Miles Davis’s Bitches Brew for example, others, from the disturbed glitching of Terry Riley’s Music From the Gift to the serenity of Arve Henriksen’s Alhambra are relatively new discoveries. I really hope you enjoy listening.” Yazz Ahmed
