Album Of The Week: Happy Meals – Full Ashram Devotional Ceremony (Volumes IV – VI)

Happy Meals
★★★★☆

Full Ashram Devotional Ceremony (Volumes IV – VI) is the second album from Glasgow duo Happy Meals, and the first release from Optimo Music’s new offshoot label, So Low.

Full Ashram is the name of Happy Meals’ recording studio. The Devotional Ceremony is Happy Meals connecting with their cosmic inner selves.

Opening with the quickly forgotten drone of “432Hz Resonant Activation Tone” the record picks up the pace with the woozy new age synthesizer melodies and flute loops of “May You Be The Mother – May You Be The Sun.”

The meditative soundscapes of “Full Ashram Emerging Theme” and the cosmic electronic exotica of “Every Moment is a Birth” are both fascinating listens and two of the most intriguing tracks we’ve heard in some time.

The record closes much like it started but with a far more interesting piece of mind-expanding, weaving synth drone on “58Hz Full Heart Vibration”.

Originally intended for release on tape, this five track, 33-minute album while consisting of individual songs seamlessly blended into each other, for your full enjoyment, we suggest listening to this record as one continuous journey.

Highly recommended.

Full Ashram Devotional Ceremony Volumes IV-VI is out now on So Low – buy from Juno or Bleep.
