Between The Cracks 5 New Releases You May Have Missed

With so much good music coming through thick and fast, it’s easy for new music to drop online and go unnoticed. To help prevent this, we’ve picked five releases that may have slipped past your radar. Stream music from El Búho, Obas Nenor / Nenorion Music, scallops hotel, Washed Out and Sefi Zisling. If you like what you hear, support the artists.

 El Búho – Tamoanchan

Tamoanchan is a humble dedication to the people, the beauty, the landscapes and the the darkness of México. This music was written in and inspired by El Búho´s two years living in Mexico City and time spent travelling across the country. It´s sound encompasses cumbia rhythms, deep basses and wavering flutes alongside field recordings of crickets, forests and festivals.

Obas Nenor / Nenorion Music – Friends Vol.1

The second release on Obas Nenor’s label Nenorion is a gathering of friends and like minded musical misfits from the brooding Tel Aviv underground.

scallops hotel – over the carnage rose a voice prophetic

Milo a.k.a. scallops hotel returns with a new album, over the carnage rose a voice prophetic. This 10-track project definitely stands out and is packed full of great rhymes, dusty beats and jazz-inspired music.

Washed Out – Mr Yellow

Multi media artist Washed Out new album is an intensely personal (the only collaborator was mix engineer Cole MGN). Conceived over two years the 12-track project is a fully immersive multimedia experience with a full length visual counterpart that utilizes almost every form of animation (collage, claymation, hand-drawn, stop-motion). Listen below and watch here.

Sefi Zisling – Beyond The Things I Know

Trumpeter and composer Sefi Zisling is the fifth artist to contribute in the Time Grove Selections series.  The project features some of Tel Aviv’s leading jazz musicians in collaboration with producer and founder of the Raw Tapes label Rejoicer. Expect an exotic blend of Afro-Jazz to spaced-out beats with influences of Spiritual Jazz, African music and Psychedelic Funk, all led by the trumpet.
