Mystery shrouds Garrett an elusive producer out of Los Angeles brought to us by Amsterdam label Music From Memory.
We’re fine with not knowing who is behind this glorious eight track album, as who ever it might be has our full attention.
According to the label “Garrett came from the inside of his own mind, from within a home recording studio somewhere on planet Earth”.
It’s a fascinating record that takes in a heavy dose of new age chill alongside modern synth funk. Kicking off with the fast paced “Apocalyptic Sunrise” the album takes a detour to more calmer places with the soothing sounds of “Right Now” and the aptly titled “Slow Motion”. The jazz bliss of “Angel Reflections,” is a highlight for us and ” Home” with its bumping bass lines and cosmic boogie could be a missing Dam Funk track. Rumours abound that Garrett is in fact Damon Garrett Riddick aka Dam-Funk. Regardless of the creators identity Private Life is one of the most impressive releases we’ve heard in 2017 so far.
Music From Memory does it again with yet another stone cold classic release!
