EABS - Repetitions (Letters to Krzysztof Komeda)
★★★☆☆

A few weeks ago Polish septet, EABS released their debut album entitled “Repetitions (Letters To Krzysztof Komeda),”  a project dedicated to Polish Jazz legend Krzysztof Komeda.

With roots in the Polish hip-hop scene, the band take a fresh and innovative approach to jazz effortlessly fusing elements of classic jazz with soul, funk, hip-hop and electro.

“This album is an analysis of conscientiously selected compositions by Komeda between 1962-1967. EABS explores some of Komeda’s lesser-known compositions featured in ballet etudes, movies, short films, documentaries, animations and compositions illustrating Polish poems recited in German,” they said in a press release.

Over the course of nine carefully chosen compositions, EABS create their unique sound by employing an approach exercising the idea of “reconstruction from deconstruction” where sampling and looping merge with jazz improvisations.

With Repetitions (Letters to Krzysztof Komeda) the band have made a great introduction, press play and enjoy.

Repetitions (Letters to Krzysztof Komeda) is out now – buy from Bandcamp.
