79rs Gang – Dead and Gone/ Wrong Part of Town

Articles from a variety of online sources.Words by CD Baby

Follow up to their masterful first LP Fire On The Bayou, 79rs Gang are back with two tracks, Dead and Gone b/w Wrong Part of Town. More stripped down percussion and vocals telling the history of New Orleans unique Mardi Gras Indian traditions and calling out the Indians who passed before.

Wrong Part Of Town is a warning to watch out for these Big Chiefs and their gangs on Mardi Gras day. Instrumentation is drums, tambourine, bottle, and cowbell and the vocal interplay between Big Chief Jermaine of the 7th Ward Creole Hunters and Big Chief Romeo of the 9th Ward Hunters.

Powerful traditional music but with a fresh sound.

Dead And Gone /Wrong Part of Town is out now via Sinking City Records – buy from Bandcamp.
