Alsarah & The Nubatones are back with a new album! After the release of their first album, Silt in 2014, the band went on the road touring. In that time band member Haig Manoukian sadly lost his battle with cancer shortly after the release of the the album. Having spent the past 2 years touring, growing closer and shaping their sound the band added two new members – Brandon Terzic (Oud) and Nahid (additional vocals).
The first taste from their new album Manara, “Ya Watan,” is a signature slice of “East-African Retro-pop” and sees Alsarah singing in Arabic about the pains she feels in her search for home. She described the song to Mass Appeal: “Ya Watan’ to me is a reminder that you must move forward in search of necessity for soul, for love, for home, for survival.”
