Yussef Kamaal has been bubbling in the underground for quite some time now, and today, we’re thrilled to hear their debut single. The London-based project led by Yussef Dayes and Kamaal Williams (Henry Wu) alongside Mansur Brown, Tom Driessler and Nick Walters take inspiration from the anything-goes spirit of ‘70s jazz-funk, on albums by Herbie Hancock or the Mahavishnu Orchestra, it’s a loose template with plenty of room to experiment. Yussef Kamaal will release their debut album “Black Focus” via Brownswood Recordings on November 4th. “Yo Chavez” is the first excerpt. Listen below.
