With so much good music coming through thick and fast, it’s easy for new music to drop online and go unnoticed. To help prevent this, we’ve picked five records you don’t want to sleep on. Stream music from Gqom Oh!, Flowdan, J A Albert, Corrie Dick and Alaska Snack Time. If you like what you hear, support the artist.
Gqom Oh! x Crudo Volta Mixtape
The word Crudo [ˈkruːdo] in Italian translates as “raw” and this is the overarching concept around the latest Gqom Oh! Release. It is a collaboration between Gqom Oh! with Crudo Volta – a young Rome-based collective who focused on visual curation and dj culture. The mixtape is the soundtrack of the Woza Taxi documentary.
Flowdan – Disaster Place
Three years in the making, ‘Disaster Piece’ is a melodic grime symphony built up of standout tunes which take you on a dark path, crossing all ilks of grime. “It’s about being a soldier in life”, Marc explains. “It’s about going against scenarios that have been picked for you and choosing your own path.” A must listen!
J Albert – Strictly J
Four new loose and beautiful metropolitan house grooves from prolific NYC producer J Albert aka Jio Albert whose Mantra (as always) is to keep it simple, and of course, keep it “Strictly J”!
Alaska Snack Time – Alaska Snack Time
Alaska Snack Time is the joint creation of electronic music based on live instruments. Our debut album attempts to contain the energy we get from performances, hours of creation and life itself. Join us on a journey of infinite space, sounds and beats. We’ll be talking about this album for some time.
Corrie Dick – Impossible Things
A dynamic and innovative presence on the UK music scene, Glaswegian Corrie Dick is a musician recognised for his fluency, gritty sound and reckless abandon on the drum kit. Press play and enjoy.
