Beethova Obas is a Haitian folk singer. He came to Tunisia in the 1980s for a festival organized by the French radio broadcast along with a handful of others artists. All of them were backed by a group of local musicians, lead by Fawzi Checkili, the band leader behind Dalton & Carthago. The Tunisian version of “Babylone” taken from an LP made to commemorate the event is even more mellow and beautiful then the original version found on Beethova’s album.
