Between The Cracks: 5 Albums You Need To Hear

Between The Cracks

With so much good music coming through thick and fast, it’s easy for new music to drop online and go unnoticed. To help prevent this, we’ve picked five records you don’t want to sleep on. Stream music from Matteo Boyero & Nick Onley, Ross Gallagher, KAMM, TITLE and Rufus Mule. If you like what you hear, support the artist.

Matteo Boyero & Nick Onley – CLIFDEN STEEL

We’re loving this 4-track EP by Matteo Boyero & Nick Onley. The music just takes your ears to places that they rarely go. It’s absolutely brilliant and we highly recommended you purchase now!

 Ross Gallagher -Arktikos

Ross is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who draws upon and works within a variety of American musical traditions. Hehas collaborated with Bill McHenry, Jorge Rossy, Andrew D’Angelo, Kenny Wollesen, Marc Ribot, Joe Henry & Hurray for the Riff Raff. Really digging this album!

KAMM – Kick Drunk Love

Dave Aju, Alland Byallo, Kenneth Scott and Marc Smith joined together as KAMM, resulting in a mini-album called Kick Drunk Love for Marcel Vogel’s Amsterdam based label Intimate Friends.iDescribed in a press release as being influenced by the artists’ “love of early ’90s MoWax era laid-back beats, it features Barrite on lead vocals (with Byallo and Scott also contributing vocals), Smith on guitar, Byallo on trumpet and Scott on Moog synth.

TITLE – Ignorance is Bliss

This is one of those records that slowly lures you in with its complex, spacey and fascinating rhythms. I’m not entirely sure how to categorise it and that is a very good thing indeed.

Rufus Mule – Puppet Dubplate
Dance bedamned. They’re washing their hands of us. A spooked platter of post-Brexit blues and minimal musings from the Mule at 120bpm, Puppet Dubplate is the 6th of Rufus Mule’s monthly missives throughout 2016. We can’t recommend Puppet Dubplate enough.
