Raising London composer and pianist Elliot Galvin‘s 2014 album “Dreamland” may have slipped past our radar but we’re definitely not sleeping on his latest project. From deconstructing standards to creating his microtonal melodica, Galvin’s music is both playful and deadly serious, drawing on a broad range of influences from Keith Jarrett to Stravinsky, Ligetti, Deerhoof and the Beatles as well as the films of David Lynch, the Dada movement and the literature of James Joyce. Galvin returns alongside Tom McCredie (double bass) and Simon Roth (drums, percussion, and glockenspiel) for their second album titled “Punch” scheduled for release on July 29th with Edition Records. “Blop” is the first excerpt and this wildly adventurous jazz number may sound disjointed at first, but give it a few spins, and you’ll be sold. Pick up the previous album and pre-order Punch now!
