The Leftovers

Tuck into our tasty Leftovers

Things are moving super fast! A little too fast! We can’t keep up with all the good stuff that drops every day on the interwebs. While we try to post every new track, album, mixtape, video, and MP3 download that we love on the site, it’s impossible to post everything, which means some quality newness gets missed. So, we serve up The Leftovers.

Watch the Against All Tides tribute to promoter Guido van Dieren (e.g BIRD, Rotterdam). Someone characterised by the fact that he always moved against the tide. The clip features contributions from some of Europe’s finest tastemakers in the music scene including Gilles Peterson, Henry Wu, LeFtO and more.

A few months ago an all-star band led by drummer Yussef Dayes (Yussef Kamaal / United Vibration) and Kamaal Williams (Henry Wu) played at a secret church location in London to pay tribute to the sensational legacy of jazz-funk drummer Idris Muhammad. We haven’t any footage of the night only a small teaser video, but we’re posting this as they are a band you need to check.  Watch above.

“Jerry Paper” is the entity that inhabits Lucas W. Nathan’s body when he is grooving.

Eariler this year Welsh singer and producer Kelly Lee Owens performed her debut headline show at the Servant Jazz Quarters. FACT magazine spent a day with the artist as she prepared for the milestone show. Watch above.

Norwegian artist Jenny Hval will release her new album, Blood Bitch, on September 30th via Sacred Bones. Hval now introduces the video for the album’s debut single, ‘Female Vampire.’ Directed by Jenny Berger Myhre, shot an iPhone and starring Hval and her friends, the video nods to the low budget horror sexploitation films of the late 70s and early 80s from which the album was inspired. Watch above.
