Last year yielded the fantastic debut album from Singer Daymé Arocena. The charismatic songstress has set the music world alight with her powerful vocals and irresistible music. Afro Pop Worldwide described her recent performance at the Afro-Latino Festival and Subrosa as such: “Her scatted improvisations were on par with Ella Fitzgerald. She had the essence of Aretha Franklin and Jill Scott’s soul power. She was as regal and spirited as Celia Cruz and Mayra Caridad Valdez ”

As you’ll see in the video, Arocena is all that and more with a surprisingly mature songwriting style (she’s only 24), having witnessed her live on two occasions i can tesifty that her shows are always as mind blowing as above.
