Daymé Arocena is currently preparing the release of a new EP featuring reworks of cuts ranging from Italian obscurities to US house heroes, the sessions (as you might guess from the title) were about taking down whichever ideas came first. Working in a tradition of covers that’s long been ingrained in jazz as well as Latin music, the One Takes EP finds the singer along with label boss Gilles Peterson and co-producer Simbad taking that approach and running with it. The first single off the project is her enticing reworking of Peven Everett’s “Stuck”. Daymé Arocena’s One Takes is due out via Brownwood Recordings on May 6th.
