Long lost J Dilla vocal album The Diary to be released on vinyl

J Dilla - The Dairy

J Dilla’s long-awaited 2002 vocal LP The Diary is finally seeing the light of day! The long lost vocal album featuring vocal performances by Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Kokane, Frank and Dank, Nottz, Boogie and Dilla himself  is set for release on April 15th, in conjunction with Mass Appeal Records. The Diary was Dilla’s attempt to take advantage of the attention afforded him by his brightest period as a behind-the-scenes hitmaker and tastemaker. However, the project stalled and the album was shelved, the reels languishing in storage in Detroit as a relocated Dilla began a creative renaissance in Los Angeles. Featuring production by Dilla, Pete Rock, Madlib, Karriem Riggins and others, the release curated by The Estate of James Yancey’s Creative Director Eothen Alapatt features never before heard track “The Introduction”, which you can stream below.

Tracklist:
1. The Introduction
2. The Anthem feat. Frank & Dank
3. Fight Club feat. Nottz & Boogie
