At the back end of last year RATKING member Wiki abruptly shared a solo mixtape called “Lil Me”, and now he’s unveiled a video for one of the standout tracks of the project, “Crib Tax”. Check out the video, above and don’t forget to check out the free album Lil Me here.
Not being familiar with her work, I was pretty delighted to hear the debut LP, from Leah Senior. It’s delicate folk music with touches of strings and sax. Beautiful music. (buy)
DJ Sotofett recently released Percussion Mixes Vol.1 on Fit Sound. The two track 12″ fuses house, electronics and tribal percussion. The B-side ‘Houran’ is based around droning yarghol (a Middle-Eastern reed instrument) sounds. A psychedelic odyssey for those who like the deeper side of dance music. (buy)

Baz Luhrmann, director of the The Great Gatsby, is the creator of a new Netflix series The Get Down depicting hip hop’s birth in the South Bronx during the late 70s. Told through the lives and music of a ragtag crew of South Bronx teens, The Get Down is a mythic saga of the transformation of 1970s New York City. Watch the trailer above.
