Hiatus Kaiyote’s fantastic second album, Choose Your Weapon gets the remix treatment by Sampa The Great and it does not fail to bring the heat. The vocals and lyrics are by Sampa and music and beats by frequent collaborator Godriguez.

Here’s what Godriguez had to say about the project:

“We’d just been on tour with Hiatus Kaiyote, and they hit me up for a remix, so I flipped six or so tracks over a few days”.

“I arranged the beats into one long flowing track, and then Sampa came over and jammed one long take of vocals over them. There was a special energy to the music we were flipping and the way the beats turned out and how Sampa put down her parts. Seven odd days after they’d asked if we wanted to do a remix, we’d finished a lil’ mixtape!”
