With so much good music coming through thick and fast, it’s easy for new music to drop online and go unnoticed. To help prevent this, we’ve picked five new release’s you don’t want to sleep on. Stream music from Abby Lee Tee, Paxico Records, Tulalah, Astronaut Husband and Mieke Miami. If you like what you hear, support the artist.
Abby Lee Tee – By Accident
Hypnotic. That’s the best way to describe this album. After numerous releases and collaborations over the years, Austrian musician Abby Lee Tee’s widespread influences in electronic music and his passion for odd sounds finally come to light in this album called “By Accident”. Based on various layers of field recordings and alienated acoustic instruments, Abby Lee Tee creates timeless cinematic vibes. Worth it just to hear “Drunken Boats” featuring mimu. Brilliant stuff!
Paxico Records – PHILADELPHIA SUMMER OF ’64
Residency and Paxico Records curated a series of performances to pay tribute to the Summer of 1964 in Philadelphia and all the monumental music that was recorded at that time. Looking to Yusef Lateef, John Coltrane and Stan Getz for inspiration, contemporary hip hop artist reworked those recordings. We’ve got this one on heavy rotation, hopefully, you will too!
Tulalah – Flood
Tulalah is a 9-piece collective based in Melbourne. The band take folk, rock, jazz and orchestral influences to create a deep, emotive sound with a distinctive organic Australian flavour. Just incredible and not to be missed.
Astronaut Husband – Bugsy
Hazy, delicate and distinctly different, Bugsy is a beautiful collection of lo-fi folk songs that verge into diverse territories and feature lush instrumentation from the first note. Sit back and enjoy.
Mieke Miami – Break Of Dawn EP
Berlin-based singer/songwriter Mieke Miami dropped her fantastic debut EP late last year, and we’re now playing catch up. The title track is the pick of the bunch on this 4-track EP.
