First Listen: Jeen Bassa – Discotheque

Jeen Bassa

Something is brewing in South London as a new wave of artists fuses cultures, sounds and continually push the boundaries of modern soul and R&B music. We’ve recently heard the fantastic new album from Mo Kolours; Reginald Omas Mamode IV is set to drop his EP anytime soon, and now the third of this talented trio of brothers Jeen Bassa steps up with something brand new. The Mauritian-born brothers have made waves for a few years and built a solid buzz along with fellow South Londoners Al Dobson Jr, Henry Wu, Sarah Williams White and 22a founder Tenderlonious. The elusive Bassa is readying the release of his album “Time Waves” on December 11th via 22a, and he serves up this funky boogie, percussion-led track titled “Discotheque” as the LP’s lead track.
