First Listen: Maassai Drops Two New Tracks

As an old school hip hop head, I’m always searching for a new artist who brings those illustrious days back while adding a modern twist. One artist who has caught my ear recently is upcoming New York femcee and activist Maassai who we featured back in July . The little-known artist may only have 486 followers on SoundCloud (at the time of writing), but with a play count just over 26k she’s making a ripple on the underground scene. With a knack for storytelling and a raw, in-your-face attitude her small but impressive catalogue simply must be heard.

This is the first track to a series of political songs dedicated to opening a discussion about the intersectionality of being black and a girl.  Maassai

Check out “Perm Politics” and “Onions” below. Get with Maassai and show the love her talent clearly deserve. Straight up unashamed hip hop, and we love it!
