Rodney Smith is arguably the greatest rapper ever to emerge from British shores and after two years locked in the studio brewing up brand new music, he returned in April with Facety 2.11/Like A Drum, two outstanding tracks produced by Four Tet and Machinedrum.
Last week Smith released “One Thing”, a stomper of a track. This track is some groovy sh*t, and I love it.
“Revolving around control addiction to status: not for or against but simply a reflection of the mindstate that creates one-dimensional aspiration in the most unlikely places. But all with a warped sense of narrative in regards to not being a prisoner of merely my own experience.… Part poem, part proverb, semi theatre all condensed into 2mins plus of modern reconstruction of “Punk Attitude”.
The production and his often comical musings are so on point. Press play and enjoy.
