It’s easy to see why Loyle Carner is the name on everyone’s lips at the minute. The South London MC possess great delivery, wordplay, and lyrics that will stop you in your tracks.
“All I wanted was a fucking man, to tell the fucking truth, hold my fucking hand”.
His new single “Tierney Terrace” as the above words show is a deeply revealing track where Carner shares his innermost feelings about his respect for grandparents while condemning his absent biological father.
Just off Brixton Hill, Tierney Terrace was where my grandparents lived,” Carner told The FADER. “It became a bit of a refuge for me when my mum was working late. I learnt a lot from both of them, and at times, felt my grandfather was the only man I could look up to. I wrote this song a while back, after a run-in with my biological dad.”
The track encompasses a bluesy guitar and hard knocking beat, with Carner’s effortless flow atop. A must listen.
