Audio: The Age Of L.U.N.A – L.U.N.A Mixtape

The Age Of L.U.N.A The London Hip Hop quartet known as The Age Of L.U.N.A comes to us with their self-titled mixtape. The 12-track project has a 90’s Hip Hop feel with MCs Butch Arkas and Kyote Noir sharing verses and dispatching a salvo of reflective thoughts, vocalist Daniella Thomas adds an extra touch class with her velvety vocals. However, what sets it off for me is the experimental production from sixteen-year-old producer NK-OK. Tracks like “Better Than”, “Aesthetic”, “Frozen”, “Memory Lane” and recent single “Boom” set them miles apart from other music out there. No senseless arrogance or mindless aggression, just thought-provoking lyricism conveyed with dope beats and rhymes. Unquestionably one of the most exciting new artists to have emerged over the past year, their imaginative mixture of hip-hop and jazz music, along with their fantastic everyday storytelling presents an inspiring formula. A must listen, this is UK hip hop 2015.
