Earlier today I was introduced to Nova Heart via an email submission and their new song has been in rotation since. The group is the brainchild of Chinese mini celebrity Helen Fang, their music has been described as ‘Blondie of China’, whilst being compared to Ladytron and New Order – it’s music that pushes the envelope. ‘Lackluster No’ seems like a rather effortless affair – a simple bass line, psychedelic guitar riff, touches of electronics, cool vocals and snippets of spoken lyrics in Chinese all come together in perfect harmony. It’s minimal yet very captivating.
