The Kenyan/London soundclash in the form of Owiny Sigoma Band return with the follow-up to “Nyiduonge Drums ”, it’s called “Changaa Attack ”, and it’s just as groovy as its predecessor. Changaa is the potent homebrew local to the region (it also goes by the name “Goodbye Mum”) and is rumoured to contain Jet fuel. The track mangles half-spoken vocals with electronics, analog drums, and kids chanting, veering between psychedelic, pop and world music, all the while inspired by Luo music.
The track is from ‘Nyanza’ their forthcoming third album which is due put on August 28th. For their third offering, the band travelled to the Nyanza Province of Western Kenya – home of their two members Joseph Nyamungu and Charles Owoko – to explore the birthplace of Luo music.
